A Reef Tank in the Desert - +/- 1,400 gallon system

Who makes the fish feeder?

How is that feeder working out for you? Im thinking of getting one myself

It's called the Super Feeder. I purchased it from super-feed.com

It is really a good unit. I don't put more than a months worth of food in it. With the humidity in the fish room, it will start to clump together after several weeks. Neptune Systems looks like they have come up with a good one!

Hi Dan,

so after reading every single word of the last 101 pages,
I'm speechless! I did read Chingchais thread and it was
awesome, but what you achieved here is simply incredible.
Here in Germany there are always harsh discussions of
keeping different tangs together no matter how big
the tank is. But you have proven, that it is possible when
giving the fish the attention they need.
You stepped in some totally new territory here and I
sincerely hope, you keep us up to date on the tangs and
have success with your unique method.

While reading your thread I finally decided to do a bigger built
myself. I'm quite young and finances aren't that rosy, but
I'm gonna slowly move forward:)
I hope to do it with the same love in detail and dedication
you did.
Next time I'm visiting the States I'd love to meet you in person!

Thanks a lot for sharing all of this with us:)
Reef Central truely is the most amazing community
with the biggest artists in the hobby!

Greetings and best wishes to you and
your family!

Hey Dan I forgot to mention I think I may have spotted you at MACNA. just didn't have time to come and introduce myself, but I think I saw you while you were at the thrive aquatics booth while my buddies were filming an interview with Koji Wada from Japan.

Jeez... I wish you would have come up and said hello!

I spent a lot of time at the Thrive booth! I am waiting for their testing machine to arrive at the LFS. It has a lot of promise!

Next year in Denver, you better introduce yourself!!!

I hope that all is well!

Mathias,

Thank you very much for the kind words. The Tangs remain my favorite fish and they are all getting along fantastically! I am looking at adding a couple of Blue Caribbean Tangs and still want a couple Whitetail Bristletooths.... one of these days.

Let me know when you make it to the States or if you need a sounding board with your tank build.

Regards,

Dan

Good morning Dan,

I'll definitely will, thanks for the offer :)

Tangs are beautiful and interesting fish indeed.
A Whitetail Bristletooth? Awesome! Haven't seen many
of them.
Now I'm excited:eek2:

Best wishes
Mathias

Dan your tank is maturing nicely! All the hard work is paying off!

I feel very happy for you as you have shared with us every step of the way!

Nya has the whitetales id snag one up

Thanks. I have spoken to them a few times. I am looking for two that are the same size. I also don't want to pay what they are asking... Pacific East Aquaculture was able to get a dozen or so in that they distributed on a wholesale basis.

It is the season right now and I've been in contact with a number of wholesalers. I am not in a hurry. I have been wait listed on LiveAquaria for over a year now.

This was such an enjoyable read. Thank you for sharing this experience. Your build has sparked my desire to have another tank. It will be tremendously enjoyable to see your aquarium mature into something amazing.

Loukas,

It's good to hear from you! Thanks for the compliments!

I am hoping that time is going to allow me to catch up here on Reef Central. There are a lot of exciting builds going on right now!

I have plans to do some new aquascaping on my tank. I am going to be ordering another 150lbs of live rock and real reef rock...I am just creating more places for corals.

I hope that all is well with you!

Thanks nursedude!

If you ever plan on being in Tucson, let me know. I'd be happy to show it to you!

Dan

Dan,

What a thrill it was to read your thread over the past several nights. Thank you for always taking the time to provide in depth updates/pics/comments, etc. I am very new to the reef world and am very excited to get my feet wet.

I would like to say this looks really nice. I moved to the west valley near Phoenix 3 years ago and have just now started planning my next tank which will be at least 300 gallons. How much do you charge for a visit and brain picking sessions, haha.
