A Reef Tank in the Desert - +/- 1,400 gallon system

Attached are some tank shots that Griffin took over the weekend. I need to get a better full tank shot. The first pic is close to the whole thing, it's hard to put in perspective that it is 8' wide and 4' tall.

Borbonius Anthias

Borbonius Anthias

So last night, I slept (or didn't) like a man that just became a new father. I first woke up at 1:30 and then again at 4:00 this morning.

I had so much anxiety about the six Borbonius Anthias. Were they alive? Were they laboring to breathe? Were the others picking on them? Both times I gently got out of bed, not to wake my wife, and quietly went into the fish room with my flashlight in hand.

They are doing awesome! I fed them three times today and they are all eating and swimming around. They are schooling and staying real close to one another.

Attached are a few iPhone pics:

Congrats on the Borbonius. I only have a pair but they adjusted quickly into my tank and eat everything I put in the tank.

Only issue I have is I like small fish and these guys are growing quickly.

Best of luck with them. They are very cool.

Hi, amazing tank! Been following along with much fascination.

When you feed the Sohals, do you feed them with the egg crate separating them? or is it too risky at this point?

I would do both at first. I did find that when I feed right after I did remove the egg-crate, they would ignore one another and eat.

Hi Dan - those pictures are great. We can't wait se to how the Sohals will act in DT with all the other tangs. nice looking Borbonius. good luck with them. by the way, do you know what type of camera and lens were used to take your pictures? thanks Byron

Dan, have you ever considered running a webcam on your tank (or on a quarentine tank)? I am not sure if you have a feasable place to set one up but it would be fun to watch!

I have a webcam running on my tank. Its great to just check in and see the tank while I am at work and even better for when I am out of town.

It would be neat if you let the public view by Skype access with a live feed.
