A Reefaholic's 1000+ Gallon Mixed Reef System Build

I really don't think Orphek goes to sleep when it comes to their LEDs.

I don't think so either. I'm happy to see a company that continually is working on different LED options and looking to the future of LEDs, not a marketing gimmick that'll get them ahead of a competitor. This one seems to have 78 LEDs and from Sanjay's earlier reports, Orphek came out ahead with efficiency of LEDs with the Lumens per watt. The Atlantik may be on my top list after checking them out at MACNA up close I hope:spin2:

Honestly if you compare the number of LEDs, this is equal to 3.9 AquaIllumination Vegas, 1.86 Radion Pros, or 2 Radions.

***On Radions I just took the 5 watt LEDs and calculated total watts.

I think we may have a new top choice for large aquariums with the Atlantik debut!?!

MACNA woohoo!

Jealous.

Make sure to stop by the Anemones, Clowns & Corals booth. That's Craig Johnston's store, he helped run MACNA here in Des Moines last year. Also make sure you check out the Maker's LED system which will also be at his booth.

I will....Outside of all the speakers I want to see I'm not sure when I can make it to the vendor booths!

I will get some pictures up tomorrow of some of the cool things. Amazing some of the setups in the vendor booths and Boyd likely has 500-600 gallons worth of tanks in a section of the floor and is amazing! From the looks of what I saw headed up to the room tonight they have lots of work ahead of them and can't wait to go in the morning!

You are our eyes and ears and given where you are in your build you are looking at the same things I'm looking at about a month ahead, so forgive my copying.... :hmm2:

Murphy's Law

Murphy's Law

Yesterday was a rough day....Apex Module burnt up about 3:30, and house sitter was not going to be back to the house until late last night. Luckily Apex was helpful enough that I caught Curt setting up the booth and RDPd into my computer, telnetted into apex, and verified that it was burnt up. The importance of correctly programming fallbacks kicked in yesterday and things luckily seem to be operating as expected.

After having a great deal of patience sister-in-law went through everything with me last night and had a video chat on our phones so I could look at as much as possible. Temperature should be in check and SPS and other corals were not sliming/bad PE.

I'm a bit anxious to get home now but I've got help from a local club member from INDMAS/RC (zigzag1) that's very knowledgeable and is going to stop by my house this afternoon and get lights squared away for the next few days. Since the Apollo runs solely when it has 10 volts from VDM, makes it very hard to temporarily fix. Thanks again Steve! :spin1: Murphy's Law always wins...

having the lights out of a day our so is no different than a storm in nature the corals will be okay, just pay more attention to oxygenation as with the lights out algaes will be respirating (consuming O2) rather than producing it.

It would not be just a day or two. Thursday through Monday is a bit much for my comfort level. 5 days is a longer dark period than Im comfortable with.

As far as algae I only really have a ball in my sump so with due amount of algae I have should not be problematic. Usually my orp stays between 450 - 500 so I should be in clear.

I am snapping pictures today and will post on my thread later tonight. I'm definitely signing up for MACNA today! Florida is easy to sell to wife as a vacation!
