a "rock" is clinging to the glass...

so i have my rocks all scaped in the tank and i hit the hay... i hit the lights this morning, and lo and behold, one of the "rocks" is clinging to the glass with some kind of foot.... about 1 min later, it retracts the foot and falls to the sand... what could this be? occaisionally, i do see it open up... any ideas?
