A sad day for reefkeeping...

Such a loss.I never met Greg, but he has contributed so much to the hobby. If you read RK magazine or browse through any of the published reef books,Greg's pictures abound.

wow, I remember when I first met him at NERAC too :-(

Joe, considering i'm in the middle of taking down my tank, i can contribute significantly to the raffle, please make sure i'm aware of the meeting so that I can contribute.

We are looking to combine our July meeting into a possible frag swap with some other clubs, and dedicate the meeting in his honor. I spoke with Greg's wife Lydia and of course their hospital bills are huge, so we'll be trying to organize getting his equipment to the meeting, with all proceeds going to a college fund for Greg's two children. I'll also be bringing lots of frags, and all those proceeds will go their family as well. If others would like to join the cause, the more the merrier.

I'll also be offering up a "Snorkel in the Atlantis Reef Tank" raffle, the winner gets to join me in a snorkel tour of the tank.

Any other ideas, suggestions will be appreciated as it will be time to remember and celebrate Greg's life.
Joe

Joe,

In order to raise more fund for Greg's family, do you think it's a good idea to combine the above with our June 15 meeting?

The number of attendents is an important factor for the fund which we can raise, and to have the seminar from Bruce Carlson at the same time will definitely attract lots of more attendents.

I will donate the drink and food for the meeting. Please call me for more details if you feel worthwhile to consider.

Thanks Liana.
James, I'm going to Gregs this weekend, and will just be helping out with the critters and their tanks. We're moving some of the smaller tanks upstairs, as well as to his brothers house and then starting to decide how to handle the 500 gallon tank.
Too soon to try and do anything for this months meeting, we should be able to get an idea on what items we'll have available, etc for July and future meetings.
Thanks and looking forward to this months meeting, Bruce is a great guy.

EVERY TIME i read some thing about GREG it really hits home he was a great guy and i know he will be missed very much my prays are with him and his family RICHIE

Joe, I didn't know Greg, but it seems you two were great friends. I'm really sorry for your loss. That's just too damn young. Sigh.

wow!! that is really shocking to hear, i remember he was the reason why i started keeping rose anemones.

Well I am shocked........I was gregs freind for over 20 years on and off. I had sent him a few emails the past couple of months and did not get a response from him. So i decided to call his cell today only to find out that it weas disconnected. So i called his house only to find out that he passed on. I can't tell you what it was like speaking to his wife today and her telling me he died. I just can't belive it he was a true hobbiest and always helped others. I will take care of the 3 frags he gave me 5 months ago in Jersey at absoulte fish. I will someday share them as this is what he was all about. Man I just can't belive this and what a way to find out.
P.s. His wife has asked me to ask around if anyone wanted his 500 gallon tank. You must be able to pick it up as she can not deliver it. So if anyone wants it please send me an emial or PM. I think she told me its 10 fee long and has 3/4 glass.
Man I am going to Miss the master...................
Michael
