A small rant

Well I wanted to mod a Maxi jet for my tank. I ordered the kit from mjmods.com which is awsome and looked all over town for a maxi jet. The only place I found it was Aquarium Adventure. I saw on the big sign on the front that they would not be beat price wise. I tried to get them to price match the Marine depot catalouge and they wouldn't do it. I will never shop there again and I see why others have complained. I figured if they price matched it was worth it to get a good price and not drive around or wait for it to be shipped. Oh well lesson learned. Thanks for letting me rant.

Most brick and mortar stores be it aquarium or electronics will not pricematch online vendors. Many have rules even then they will only pricematch to stores within a certain distance. You cannot go to best buy and pricematch to newegg.com but they will match circuit cityfor instance. It is just a fact that B&M stores have much more overhead to cover than an internet retailer.

Salty critter will price match if you show them and I think pish business will too. Granted their prices are not a huge leap of a difference.

Including shipping and tax, I've found Salty Critters prices compare pretty well to internet prices unless you're spending a ton on dry goods. A brick and mortar store will never be able to be profitable at internet prices. But I can't roam Marinedepot for an hour plotting my next coral.

Oh and I got this pretty thing there today:

Hey MJ... Is that a blue pseudochromis basslett? I'd like to get one of those for my tank. My friend has a little hot pink colored basslett. That little fish beats the *&%^ out of his royal gramma. The gramma stays in the rock caves like Osama Bin Laden. Is that your experience?

Here is a little info on that fish http://www.meerwasser-lexikon.de/eng/35/2013/Pseudochromis fridmani /x Pseudochromis sankeyi..htm

What he said...

Very pretty fish. Mine is about 2" and it might grow another 1". I was looking for a blue fish to add and this fit the bill perfectly. Like the article said, they are ORA bred and when they first hit the market they were around $80-$100 each. They are coming down from that.

BTW, I got the last one although Dan at SC said another pair is coming soon.

I've only had her/him for 12 hours and she is still hiding in the rocks except to eat so I can't really say about the hiding. Ask me again in a month.

Im not one for bashing a local store on a public forum as it can hurt relations with the club in the future for sponsership, donations and the posting of a club flyer please keep that in mind. That being said I like the fish I had my eye on it the other day.
