yes I was very lucky to get them What do you guys think about QTing them together? I can always set up a seperate 40b just for them in QT. It is them and a male lobouti in the QT, it is a 20L. They are very tiny fish, almost can fit through the holes in the acclimation box. The females are only 1 inch if that. Stunning, amazing fish despite their small stature. There is no aggression between the 2 species so Im contemplating letting them out tonight so they arent as confined. What do you hard core wrasse keepers think?
I would keep them in the box until you see they are eating well and active. Then , let em go. But keep a close eye on the Labouts. He can turn on them. Mine are pretty territorial.
Thanks bradley OK I will keep an eye out, He seems very relaxed. actually a female escaped the box and the labout didnt even really notice her. I quickly snagged her and put her back in the box. They all are eating very well. The male is just amazing in person to watch stalk his food.
well after about 30 minutes trying to get these looking through a lens, heres a photo of the male flashing. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT to get any shot, so I do apologize that some photos are cut off
you can see the electric blue around his head and down his body. It is under some crappy florescent lighting but still is amazing to see in person. I am breathless after watching him display.
They have great color, I just wish they got bigger lol. It's not uncommon to see sub males in a group of a male and females. Just keep your eye on them and feel free to send me any troublemakers
I would never ever treat them with prazi or cu untill they show some sign of disease. Given that they came from PIA I doubt you'll have any treating to do.
they look very very healthy. I was thinking of treating as a preventative. no? please Id like to know the best circumstances for them. like i said they are very very healthy and beautiful.
well today I had a bit of a scare, one of the females turned white, except for the face. she reverted back to her original color after but it was strange. any experience with this?
well Im happy to report the trio is doing great. I am doing this update because I just was watching the Qt there in and saw the male doing an amazing show of colors. It was truly stunning...and im 8 feet away. His body was pale white almost yellow, with a bright orange head and stunning red fins. Almost a scarlet red Ive never seen this intensity in a fish in person before. He was so fast though by time i grabbed my camera he was done..
