A Splash of Color - My SPS Peninsula Reef

This is one of the acros that prompted me to chase better pink pigments. The branches are a glowing ice blue and it's trying really hard to pop all over with pink polyps and highlights and it's my duty to help it !

It's very hard to photograph due to the reflective shimmer bouncing back from the branches but this is the acro i would put in a bucket and save if the house was burning down and i could only take one........ to me it is that ridiculously pretty already. :)

Thanks Michael, going through a good patch at the moment :)
Mother of god...that is beautiful :inlove:

Yeah it's pretty special to me mate lol. This thing needs a pink/red push as well so i'm watching it closely too ;)

Biggles, it must be difficult to paint on those orange/pink tips after dipping the coral in baby blue die!
That coral makes my stomach hurt, it's so nice..

I don't mind the blue loo toilet dip to get the branch color but hand painting the tips is a drag...........:D

Sahin may be president of RCTKC, but at least he keeps his acros alive. My self, I am president of Reef Central dead acro Club, RCDAC. Don't know if I will ever jump back in. But I enjoy this page. I also feel, and understand Bello's pain. Hopefully he will make it back.

Marty

Now i don't normally reply to posts out of order but these ones screamed out for my attention......... :)

Excellent post Mike, great to see a member of the RCTKC backing the club president.

As if i'd let your election as president of the Reef Central Turd Keepers Club go without a mention..........

Congratulations mate, i really can't think of any other reef keeper who deserves the recognition more than YOU. I can't tell you the joy i felt when i read Mike's announcement, i felt like doing a little  i was so happy.

I know you're struggling to keep your membership active Mike but don't feel bad if you're forced to leave the RCTKC. I have yet to see anyone come close to matching Sahin's skill with toilet acros.....

That's what I'm taking about!!!
Keep'em coming!!

The main piece of that acro you liked a few pages back Matt, this is in much higher light and has only started developing the blue tips in the last ten days or so.

Bello is doing ok and will be back in a few months with luck Marty, you don't think we'd let our little mate go bush without keeping tabs on him do you. ;)

Not sure if i ever mentioned this piece that was $5- because it was completely bleached and had no color. It still has a long way to go coloring back up but it's looking like another greener i'll be hanging onto Sahin lol.

This is the nicest acro that I've ever seen!!! Something like that by me would sell for big $$$. Really beautiful. I can only hope that a similar piece makes its way to my area :)

I think his is the second nicest, but its pretty darn close to my number 1 favorite. This one gives me goosebumps, owned by Acronic:

Oh yeah the way that thing grows is super sweet. :) I love delicate branched acros from down deep.

Another piece i have that was bleached so only $10- which is the same species as the other one. It's in too low light but has recovered and will light up once i place it in similar light as the other piece. I think it's ice blue with purple tips but it needs medium light before i can be sure.

I found a night pic of the first piece when i bought it, it was pretty much white and brown but you could see tiny hints of pigments here and there if you squinted really hard lol.

Hey mate, yeah things got pretty hectic for a while as I got a job after finishing studying at tafe. I now have job in a pets and garden place and I'm loving it. They don't have marine stuff....... Yet;). My tank took a turn for the worse at about the same time and I'm still trying to pull it back on coarse, slowly things are getting better. I didn't have time to stop by and I thought it be best that I didn't look at tanks like yours or I might pbiawa!(pour bleach in and walk away) from frustration. But I gave myself a good talking to and now I'm champing at the bit to get things going:bounce:.

That is a stunner! :eek2: Do you ship frags to Canada? ;)
Lol, if only wishes came true eh? It is indeed a stunner...

Biggles.... question for you regarding placement. In your current tank it looks like you have your aquascape setup quite low. How much distance would you estimate is between the top of your tallest acro and the bottom of your Radium bulb?

Lol, if only wishes came true eh? It is indeed a stunner...

No kidding!

What is that, A Abrotanoides?

Good question Phil. I'll be curious to hear Biggles' answer. Looking at my setup last night, I'm worried my light may be too close to the corals given how I've laid things out presently.

We haven't heard from Acronic in a while, now I know why.... you stole his box of crayons and are using them to color those acro's. :) In all seriousness, just beautiful corals sir, I really like the two with the light blue flesh and brightly colored tips.
