A Splash of Color

Thanks Bulent, i might try a video to see what happens when i play the UK anthem next, followed by the US. :)

What about Canada? At least for the Moose Frag

Dave got a huge shipment from Christian yesterday which i won't get to look at for weeks. I pinched the pics off his FB page.

OMG

Someone i don't even know has already contacted me and offered me $1500- for the scolly which is nuts but after looking on the net i don't see anything else like it tbh so i get it lol.
Whatever it is in regards to one off growth, i intend giving it to Dave to say thank you for being the Dave you all know. Dave will refuse so i will just take it to the shop one day and place it straight in the SPS tank - checkmate.......

So in short, Dave's scolly isn't for sale.

It really doesn't matter who's tank is going in. It won't look like that in a month or two, unless they have radiums and let Andrew take care of the tank.

C'mon, really? That pic of Dave's last shipment is just nuts! If that happened at my local LFS there would be a line around the block just to get in. Man you are truly blessed to have Dave and Christian as your acro suppliers.

I don't doubt this.

Yep.. :(

Say goodbye to Photobucket! I will do the same. They are money grabbing spam/scam artists.
Does Dave have a display tank? Sneak it in there. Make it hard for him to reach.

He doesn't have a shop display but i know he has a home tank so he can put it in there Matt. He's doing a big shop refit over time and down the track i hope to see a nice mixed reef display in the shop that Dave can load up with crazy goodies like the scolly. :)

I like the DT tank idea.

So do i but he doesn't have one :(

Anyone, what is Scolly Pox? Yahooed it, didn't find any information.

Marty

I publish all my scientific papers on the dark web Marty...........:reading:

Lol, it will likely grow at least Marty.........

I am blessed to have them, my display wouldn't look the way it does without both those guys Scott.

If there was a line around the block you and i would simply walk to the front and in the door Brandon and no one would do a thing to stop us mate.

I will be holding one of these in a fish net and waving it out front of us like a magic path clearing wand........... if harry potter zapped voldemort on the arse with a lionfish wand it would have been all over in the first movie.........

Andrew, which photo sharing site are you leaning towards?

I've been trying to google and find a paid subscription replacement Matt but none of them are particularly inspiring mate. Does anyone have a good suggestion because i'm stumped atm lol.

On a serious flubber note - i know, ridiculous right but it's not every day you see real life scolly pox running rampant........

The scolly now has bubbles all the way around and a line appears on every dark pigment band - except the 3 or 4 bands that show no signs of bubbles at all, the ones totally sheltered by the stylo from the Radium.

Well I did say this will fetch you $10,000 and you didn't believe me. Since you mentioned its got more bubbles, I would love to see an updated photo of it before you go "dark" on us. thanks in advance!

I like Dave and I've never met him. Give the scolly to his wife to put in his tank at home!

The images are bigger, it seems.

Nope.. never mind. Went back and they are the same.

Still super sexy, though!!

I'm using postimg.org as well now after Sam's recommendation. It's a heap faster and much more basic that photobucket but works well :)

You should have Flo get you some of that bad a** rock for your bonsai side!

And yes Flo I know you don't live with the roos.

Living in Los Angeles with the abundance of LFS and even some wholesaler/distributors, I have been fortunate enough to see some beautiful Australian acros. Managing to keep those colors, that's another issue altogether.

Your acros are beautiful and your "flubber" isn't half bad either.

I enjoy your sharing. And I especially appreciate your experimentation and knowledge. Your thread is always a source of either knowledge or laughter or both.

You would love Dave if i took you to his shop Brandon, as you literally drooled into the acro tank staring at what i show you pics of Dave would be droning on in the background about how most of it was common and how you should wait for the next shipment......... then when you tried to actually buy a stunner you'd get........ are you sure you don't want to wait........ you already have one like that........... you told me to tell you not to buy those types......... i think it will turn green tbh........... have an iced coffee and think about it, you're not in a hurry are you.........

And i would be in the background droning on.......

' I bloody warned you didn't i mate, thought i was joking didn't you Brandon '

They were bigger Matt, 1280 instead of the 1024 PB max size.

After trying a few others i now realize just how slow and annoying PB had become Dom lol.

I think i will have a rummage through the dry and live rock next visit, i don't need very much for what i have in mind. :)

Thanks a lot Mark, most of the times the colors we are trying to keep are not achievable in regards to wild collected branches. You can look at a glowing pure pink piece and fall in love but it only takes perhaps 10% of the tissue area to be populated with say green or brown hued zoox for that radioactive pink to become dull salmon colored to the eye.
I'm glad you got a laugh or two and found something useful in the journal. Kevin asked to have a monthly acro column in my new journal which i said was ok but he emailed a pic today he wants me to use.......... now i'm not so sure........

I don't have a magic touch with wild stuff as many seem to think, it is simply the case that over the years through trial and error, and because i have always kept the same lighting and simple filtration, i have a very good idea of what many, many pigments will do under my conditions and i target only those that i think will 'light up' for me or ones that i know are exceptional color variants of common types.

I waited about 9 months to get the same SSC color variant as the one in the background. Probably ignored over 50 SSC branches and 200 SSC variants (lemonade etc) until i saw the exact same one i had years back. I know it will look bloody nice when it's settled, i don't hope or think it will, i KNOW it will as good as any SSC ever could in my system. I have a huge advantage over all you guys overseas, not just in choice but in knowing what a great many will do in my display.

I decided i was going to end my journal, not PB in a few days time so i went to close my bucket of maggots photo account today and discovered that i have to email them to do this because i have a paid account.......

I can't be bothered so i deleted every single image i ever uploaded to their servers. I refuse to give them the US $400- a year they now demand to allow me to post my images here.

Thanks very much to everyone who followed my journal and especially all my good mates here who joined in the fun and games over the last few years.

I'm going to have a little sulk now because that's the way biggles rolls when things don't go his way.......... :p

Hi Andrew,
I always enjoy this thread. Learning a lot, laugh a lot and get a lot of inspiration. You are allowed to take a brief break. Longer than that, the rest of the world is waiting for you and we will send "fish police" + "reef police" to your home.
