A tale of two giganteas

The green eventually declined to the point where I put it in the refugium, but it still didn't make it, and I removed it.

The blue is doing wonderfully.

I have to guess there was a conflict between them, but cannot be sure.

The trio of clowns used both for a while and I thought the juvenile might grow up, but no, they are all happily in the blue gigantea now.

I got 6 Gigantea and two Haddoni in the same system for several months at this time, but before this I have had several Gigantea together for almost a year. They seem to do fine. I even have Gigantea toughing Haddoni without any apparent problem. Will see.

They all seem to do well right now.

I also had 6 gigs all in one tank. What I found was 5 would be doing great and one would start to do less well. The one doing less well would not open so much and start to get smaller. I'd remove it pop it into my other system and within a few weeks it would be back to normal, so I'd transfer it back into my gig tank.
This happened every time, though not always the same gig. It was a constant battle tbh. I'm convinced there was some chemical warfare going on. I don't run carbon.
It was like they were ganging up on the weakest gig. I'm convinced there was some chemical warfare going on. I don't run carbon.

I lost 3 of them several months ago to a calc reactor issue which lowered the ph.

Of the 3 remaining, one started doing less well again so I decided to move it on. just have a neon green and a blue, touch wood they seem fine together.

I have 2 gigs in a 50g w/ actual 20g more in the sump going on 1 week. They were in a 40g at the vendor shop for the last 5-6 weeks. They were seperate but then moved and now just barely touch each other.

Very tight mouths and have not done any inflate/deflate.

After reading this thread, I should keep an eye on both to watch for any deterition signs. Was it just getting smaller and loosing tentacles? Or was it deflating like a pancake?

I experienced this as well..

ive housed multiple gigs together, in 3 scenarios, 3 tanks, 2 gigs in each tank..

first one was a 65g shallow tank with 250W 20k bulbs over it, it was my large purple s. gig that was put in first, and measured roughly around 20''-22''ish across when he had the 4 foot long tank to himself.. after adding a Green S. Gig that went threw the Cipro treatment, I noticed after a couple of weeks the purple S. Gig was still looking healthy as could be, but was declining in size, and the green one which was medium sizesh to begin with, was rapidly starting to grow.. over the next coupld of months, it didn't take long before the green out grew the purple and the purple was smaller than the green...

Here's pics to show the size decline

The two added together and after a couple of weeks, the green had grown, and the purple had shrunk to be about the same equal size at the time

and one of the last pics I have of the 2 together, the green is larger than the purple...
<a href="http://s1113.photobucket.com/user/Reef1589/media/6-10.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k507/Reef1589/6-10.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 6-10.jpg"/></a>

yes I did have a medium(ish) cyano out break, but I don't think that affected the animals in this scenario.. to make 1 grow and 1 decline..

ive often wondered about this and why it had happened... because in the other 2 tanks, the 2 gig sthat where housed together, lived perfectly together and didn't see this type of behavior in either of those 2 setups.

***Note -- I never lost a gig to this though, only saw one shrink, I decided to sell the green off because I favored the purple one more.
