A wonderful Sunday Morning

Well we woke up this morning at 620 to the sound of nothing. We then realized there was no power. We ran to see the tanks and waves through 20 gallons of water. The 175 lost about 5 gallons (thank god for a large sump) and 15 gallons in the 90 gallon. The power was off for about 3 hours. But the savior of the day was the power generators. This was the best investment of the day. We were able to plug in the Tunzes in the front, the seios in the back and the aquapod with no problem. We were even able to plug in powerheads to mix saltwater.

We learned that it had been about 20 minutes from the time the power went out and the time we were able to kick on the generator but too late to stop the water from over flowing.

So for those who can, invest in a generator. Its well worth it.

Might be a good time to remark your max running line so that won't happen. Glad all else came through.

Good stuff!

I always like to do "off at the breaker" tests to see what happens. I do, however, really need to invest in some battery backup air pumps and fit my tank with some insulation. Maybe a UPS for the heaters....

I do now paul, and now i have battery back-ups as well.

And thanks to OGE, another 4 hour power interuption at 315 this am but everything went smooth from lessons learned the first time

hey guys, I've been concerned over power outages, I'm not from Oklahoma originally and the whole "OG&E" thing is becoming very apparant that I need a back up plan, just in case. I won't be able to afford a generator for awhile but I have seen battery powered backup air pumps and whatnot. Any thoughts on these products or suggestions?

They are great products in emergency situations. You can also go up to a electronics, auto, or hardware store and look for a DC/AC Converter so you can use your car as a generator. It's a little unconventional, but it would do the job. In fact, I was eyeballing one of them the other day while I was at Lowe's goofin' off.

car power converter? why didn't I think of that, I have one sitting in the back of the closet , I don't care what the people say bout you Travis, your a smart feller!
