aaaand that's my last trip to petco.

Well, yesterday I bought a 6 line wrasse from my local petco. I put it in QT and this afternoon it looked rough. Floating around and lethargic.

I went in to return it and got a stiff "no returns on saltwater, petco policy" bs.

I told them, that's awfully strange since I can buy saltwater fish from petco online or liveaquaria, which is owned by petco, and return things no problem.

I said, well I had planned on just getting store credit, but now I just want my money back and I'll never come back again.

The lady was still firm, so I said "ok sounds good." I'll just call the corporate office and see what they say. I picked up my phone and started googling the number. She changed her tune and finally gave me back my money.

I told her that this franchise just lost a customer and I'll never be back. She just said sorry, and that was that.

So peace out south charleston, WV petco, it's been a real pain. If you are ever here, avoid that store like the plague.

i don't think petco has franchisee??? i'm a franchisee and i try to please all customers, however, when a customer threatens me with calling corp. i say, "i don't respond well to threats" and then give them the phone number.

yes i agree!!! i don't think petco has franchises and that there online policy differs from in-store is very surprising?

The few petcos I've been to have always had signs that said "No refunds on saltwater". If there's a sign, I respect it or I don't buy their product if I'm worried.

I don't go to petco often because the closest one is almost an hour away.

Yea same here.... That and i do NOT Like going to Frankfort.. Most evil place in the state...


As far as a Customer calling the Boss or Corp.. I WILL Pull my phone out and Dial the number before they can finish the Sentence..
My boss will tell them He just writes the pay checks and Erica is in Charge..
Been there done that.
I do not let people talk down to me or be Rude.. Nor will I Continue a Conversation with people like this.

That lady probably just didn't want to do the paperwork. When I worked at Pizza Hut in high school we used to just tell people we ran out of dough sometimes so we could make box forts in the back and have "safety meetings" by the dumpsters

Or if she was a manager she maybe just doesn't care much about the SW side cause it's not a revenue geneterator for her.

It ain't a threat. I doubt a corporate office anywhere would be cool with ****ing off a customer over 20 dollars.

And I was nice. Very nice. I usually am toward employees, because I'm just happy to see people working.

But when someone comes in who obviously has an issue, let's try to take care of them instead of stonewalling some BS.

Me: "you mean you can't garuntee your animals are healthy? Why would I want to buy them then?"

Sometimes fish don't transport well. I've bought healthy fish from petco that survived quarantine and fish from vivid that die within a few days.

I don't think any fish retailer can guarantee their fish is healthy unless it's underwent a rigorous QT regimen. That's why we QT fish ourselves.
