Aaron's 30G Rimless Build Thread!!!!

Man, you got lucky too! My tank cycled just as fast, must have been some really good rock I got ahold of lol. I went to FAOIS last Friday and tested 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrate, 1 Nitrate. I added the start of my cleanup crew that day along with feather duster and put my pair of Ocellaris in and everyone has been happy thus far.

Personally, I'd say you're good to go if you test again and your Nitrate levels are a tad bit lower. That's what I did and it has worked thus far with no ill consequences yet...

Good Luck :)

Chad, Thanks for the input! I am so happy with that rock I got from you!! It is definitely just what the tank needed! I am still going to take it slow and test everyday through the weekend. If it is still in check by the weekend, then i may add some clean up crew.

04mach1: I am honestly not quite sure :) I am still playing with it. It is mounted in the top 1/3 on the back of the tank centered blowing straight forward. I have it cranked up to about 3/4 intensity and am not disturbing the sand. I did get the coarser sand though for that very reason. Also, its only an MP10, don't know if thats what you have or not...

Glad to see you back in the game. I got a birdsnest from you years ago when you had a Rubbermaid frag tank. It was about the size of a large grapefruit when I lost it, it's now a porch ornament.

I have an mp10 also and got the CaribSea Aragonite Seaflor special grade reef sand as its a little bigger pieces.

Jrizo, Glad to see your name! Thanks!

FNH, Thank you as well. The container is just in case anything splashes it will be contained in the container until I do a thorough cleaning every onece in a while. Better than it soaking into the stand I figured. Just an extra security measure. I checked the sump capacity with a power outage and it is fine.

I'll test params at lunch again today and post results.

this might help for vortech placement..sorry for some of the corals, they were rescues from Hurricane Sandy.

Premilove, looks sweet! I may add another MP10 down the road, have to see.....

Tested Params again today at Noon and Nitrite and Amonia are still 0.

Updates tonight after I get my skimmer :)

Update:

Thursday 2-14 7:00 AM

Parameters still:

Temp: 77
Salinity: 1.024
PH: 7.9
Nitrate: 2ppm
Nitrite: 0(tested twice)
Amonia: 0(tested twice)

Got my skimmer yesterday and I will get it up and running after work today. Also need to build a baffle in the sump to get rid of my micro-bubles in the display.

I also have noticed some pods on the glass which I am thrilled about! If everything stays steady I will get some cleanup crew this weekend.

Loving the tank! How are you liking the radion so far? Have you tried the settings where it works with your mps yet? I'm starting to fall in love with the shallow tanks!

Thanks guys!

Harvard: Loving the Radion!! Haven't even really started playing with it yet. Got the wireless card for the MP10 now I just need somebody to help me play with it on the computer.....

Nate: Camera is just an old Canon RebelXT DSLR

Updates tonight when I get the skimmer in and retest water.

Not much algea or diatoms to clean up so I wouldn't go overboard, it's possible your cycle hasn't even started but if you want maybe 2-3 nice crabs and some small snails or possibly a cleaner shrimp, since theres no algea in your tank you'll have to feed the CUC :)
