? about DIY stand strength/support

I'm building the stand for my 30long today. I've got it framed with 2x4s and it seems very strong/sturdy at this point. I don't have any support in the middle of the stand, only at the corners. I'd like to leave it that way if possible to keep access to the stand as open as possible.

Once the tank is full and there is weight on the stand, will the lack of a center support lead to any sagging? The last thing I want is for the stand to sag in the middle, the tank to flex and crack or break.

Thoughts?

If it matters, the stand is 36" wide, 32" tall, 12" deep.

When I built my stand for my 90 I did not put any support in the middle. I don’t think you will have any issues. I put the 2x4's on end not flat.

the wood that runs acrosst holding your tank should not be flat...this will avoid sagging compleetly.

i built mine with the center support for a 75g(48"long) this was because at the time i was worried the tank would even make my floor colapse...i made it a bigger deal than it was.

for the lenth of yours i dont think however there would be much pressure in the center...

id understand if you had worries about a 125g but your tank isnt that long or heavy.

if you wish to sleep better at night use 2x6 instead of 2x4
