? about hermit crabs

ive been thinking about getting a few hermit crabs to help clean up my sand, my question is are most hermit crabs ok to go together for instance like scarlet, blue leg, red leg and like jade? i think ive read somewhere you only want one scarlet for some reason.

if im gonna get hermit crabs id rather get ones that have nice colors on there legs instead or just the normal run of the mill ones.

I would probably just get a few scarlet. Any other type I've ever had always ended up moving into a snail shell that until recently had a snail in it.

I had some of those red/blue/white striped (legs) hermits and they were mean...killed all of my blue legs. Agree with despot101 on scarlets....however, I have noticed they will eat everything on your LR..now, I only get snails..and not big ones.
