? about ****ing off corals

I was moving a lot of stuff around last night and I noticed that the hard corals specifically were secreting some stringy stuff. Is this just the slime that they were secreting? The reason that I ask is something stung the crap out of me. When I took my hand out of the water, I noticed a little green stringy looking thing about an inch long laying where it was stinging. Anybody have any Idea?

Yes the slime is normal if they were SPS. Hard to know what stung you. Lots of things in reef tanks can give unexpected stings. The green string could have just been algae and a coincidence.....hard to know for sure.
