About time..

Well, finally some winter weather! It's been a very lame winter thus far with warm temps, cloudy skies, and very little snow. It finally cleared after a nice snow and got cold :). I spent a few hours out Aurora chasing but had little in the way of a reward. Some whispy stuff was all. Called it a night at 3am and later heard they kicked up around 5am. Figures...

I think one of my favorite images was a "lets kill some time" shot I took on my deck. The funny thing was the temp dropped like 3 degrees in just a matter of about 5 mins. Anyway, nothing spectacular but I thought I'd share.

Beautiful pictures! I wish we had some more snow to go along with the -20 degree weather were having where im at.

LOL, thanks guys. Yeah, no snow is for the birds :). Personally up here in AK we like snow. Makes everything so much brighter and lets us ski and snowbike. It's a virtual winter paradise. Cold, and -20 is cool for brief spells but it sure is hard to do anything in. Well except for Aurora photography!

The first aurora pic was pretty lackluster. After many years up here and taking 100's if not thousands of Aurora pics just an arc doesn't make me excited anymore. Unless it's really strong and has a killer foreground. Guess I've become a bit of an Aurora snob because I'm now looking for this all the time :).

Though the first time I saw the Aurora it was like the first image and it knocked my sock off. I was blown away. Only later over time did I get to see the levels of intensity it could rock at!

Well good that you appreciate it. It is one of those things that is high on my bucket list of things to see, sooner rather than later!

I now understand why the Aurora in the first picture was sort of pedestrian. A nice picture never the less.

Beautiful shots.

Just looking at that thermometer reading 9 degrees is making me COLD!

I guess I'm just a left coast wimp :)

It was 70 here today!! T-shirt and shorts weather.
