About to order osmolator, one final question

I am soon to order, and I am waivering between the Tunze calcium dispensor or a more traditional nilsen style reactor w/ mixing ability. My current evaportation is approx. 1.5 gallons per day. Based on experience/opinion, how important is it to have the mixing ability. Should I spend the additional money on the reactor?

Thanks

The traditional Nilsen reactors will mix a slightly stronger super saturated solution. The dispenser we offer just makes a saturated solution, no slurry. In my opinion kalkwasser is not an efficient and reliable way to raise or maintain calcium in all but the lowest demand tanks, it is great for offsetting the pH drop from a regular Calcium Reactor and precipitating phosphates, our dispenser is good enough for this purpose.

Thanks Roger.

I do plan to add a calcium reactor in the future, but it will be after this upgrade. I really need to automate my top off. I think I will go with the dispenser.

Hi Roger, I have one more question. I received my osmolator this week and I plan to put the storage conainer in a closet whose wall backs up to my tank. I was going to put the controller in the stand, but it apprears that the power lead for the pump is the shortest of all the wires to the controller. If I do not have enough lead, can I add additional wire on? It is low voltage so I don't think there would be an issue.

Thanks

Yes, in fact I have soldered lengths of up to 25ft of 22gauge speaker wire on the unit and it still works.

Thanks. I also wanted to ask about the voltage. I will be pushing the top off thru the Tunze calcium dispensor. I thought I recalled reading a post where it was recommended to switch to 12V. Is this true? And if so, is it simply switching to 12V or do I need to wire anything different?

Thanks alot.

Depending on the height you have to pump 12V may be required. Try 9 first but yes, if it isn't enough then switch to 12V.
