Absolutely Fish

Kevin,

Up until 5 months ago I passed them on the way home and stopped there at least once a week. (Since my firm sent me to work in scenic downtown Brooklyn, I only hit them once or twice a month.) They are generally considered to have a great selection of specimens, but at a higher than average price. That said, would you prefer to buy your live stock from a shop that has a great selection and knowledgeable salespeople, or from a chain (or even LFS) that has a mediocre specimen selection and employs part-time high school students? "You gets what you pays for..."

In terms of specimen selection, I believe they have the best in the North East. I have been going there for a good 20 years now, and it never ceases to amaze me that, on a good 50% of my visits, I find a fish that I have never seen before... (Sorry --- I have no corresponding metrics on inverts.)

I was there last weekend, what are you looking for?

Regards,
Bob D.

I'm a fan. Expensive, but good stuff. I was there last week and they had a really big tiger cowrie snail (sp?). Neat because I've never seen one before.

Do you know if they have a pair of Snowflake Clowns in stock and how much they want if they do?

Thanks,
Kevin

i had seen a pair of Snowflake Clowns about 2 weeks ago, for 120@..
i doubt they still have them..
i might go by today..
i will let you know if them have them..

:)

or better yet if you really nee them call them @ (973)-365-0200

the ones i saw were about 1.5 to 2 inches and the femail was about 2 to 2.5 inches..
nice and fat..

:)

I saw one snowflake clown when I went there last week(first time ever seeing one in person!), not sure if there was a pair.

I've gotta admit, Absolutely Fish probably has the best setup I've seen so far in terms of selection and general fish health. Prices, however, are the highest I've seen from any LFS. If you're looking for something that's harder to find, I'd definitely check AF, otherwise, I'd recommend looking elsewhere for the more common fish/inverts.

I was there over the weekend and I did see 1 snowflake clown. He was being kept over in the sponge tanks in the reef section. Might have been part of a pair but did not pay close attention.

I just heard back from them and they do only have one in
right now.........doesn't really help me as I really want a pair.

Thanks for all the help guys.

wow snowflake pair for $120 these guys are $400-500 in most stores. Why don't you have them ordered from a lfs that deals with ora.

If your coming all the way from PA you might want to check out

The Fish Tank
249 RT 46 W.
SADDLE BROOK, NJ 07663

as well. It seemed like a nice shop the one time I was there last month. Salt water only and a large selection of inverts & fish.

Is the fish tank hard to find? I tried to drive by it once without the address and didn't see it. Maybe I didn't go far enough...

not sure if they still have them but reef encounters in Hackensack had a pair about a month ago, I think they were about 400-600

I buy most of my livestock at AbsolutelyFish, pricy, but healthy.

I just look into The Fish Tank yesterday for the first time, they have a lot of stuff and some different fish than AF, lots of corals smaller colonies at great prices, but less selection.

Still, I am going back to TFT to buy some lower cost colinies for filling in. I dumped some big coin on four nice colonies over the last two months at AF.

I have not been to Reef Encounter yet, what is the address?

Just called Reef Encounters.
They said they sold them a few monthes back.
Thanks for looking.

Found them!

Got a pair of snowflakes! They're sitting in the shop just to make sure they start eating and everything's ok and then they're coming here.

Thanks for the help,
Kevin Miller

Here they are.
