Just got back home last night from 2 weeks in Egypt had a great time, but was greated in the airport from a call from my parents who had kindly been popping round my flat to keep an eye on my tank and feed the fish.
They told me they had a bit of a problem with my tank and my clams had died all except my 8" Deresa i was gutted but at least i had my giant clam left.
Upon arriving home at nearly 1am today i looked in my tank to find my 8" was also now dead even though my parents said it was fine earlier that day. Ive tested the water and cant see anything out of place.
So thats a 8" deresa a 4" and 3" deresa and a 2" maxima that have all died within me being on holiday for 2 weeks. I cant understand it.
My mum seen a crab eatting one of the clams that she caught and sumped but now looking in my sump ive found it was my mythrax so have added it back to the tank as i dont think this would be the cause of death im sure it was just feasting on the dead clams.
The only problem ive had with 2 of my clams was that my cleaner wrasse started to take interest in them. But i trapped him and took it to my LFS just before i went on holiday so make sure they were ok. None of my other fish have ever showed any interest in them so i dont think it can be them.
Im lost as to what can have caused this. Everything else in the tank is looking fine and im surprised by the growth of some of my sps within the 2 weeks. Only other prob i noticed it it looks like on of my tracs has either receded slightly or something has taken a bite from it. Looks more like a bite mark.
Not a very good end to such a great holiday
