ac II programming input problem and temp probe

I have a continual problem trying to input new commands or changing them around. This problem arose about 4 months ago and I called in for customer support. I was told that I needed to restart/hardboot the controller by taking out the battery and unpluging it. This does infact correct the problem but for a short time. Because everytime I decide to change or input a new command, I keep having to restart it. Is this something I am doing wrong? Can this be fixed?

Also, my temperature probe has some kind of problem. For some odd reason my data (temp,ph,orp) were odd numbers and changing. So, I decided to see if it was any of the probes and I came to the conclusion it was the temperature probe. When I remove it, everything goes back to normal. Do they go bad? Do I have to buy a new one?

Thanks in advance,

Clint

The root cause of the problem is likely power spikes. The electrical environment around you tank can be quite noisy and have very large voltage spikes. For example when a pump/powerhead/chiller shut off then emit a voltage spike of several thousand volts. This spike can wreak havoc with electronic devices. Please do/check the following:

Make sure that the controller is plugged into a surge protected power strip.
Coil up cords to make them as short as possible.
Physically separate the AquaController's power cord from any switching inductive load (pump, powerhead, chiller).
Ideally plug the AquaController into a different circuit then any other electrical equipment.

Yes, occasionally a temperature probe breaks, but it is not very often. The probes have a 90 day warranty.
