ac. valida vs. stylophora---which wins?

They don't call it valida [Lat: strong] for nothing. The poor strawberry stylophora [onto which it fell last night] has a huge burned spot and the purple valida has nary a polyp out of place.

The good news is that there are live dark polyps in the center of the quarter-sized blemish [counting 2 branches] on the stylophora, and I have every hope the tissue may regrow.

I can tell you from the many falls and tips my Prostrata has kicked the crap out of everything so far with nothing to show for it.

I agree w/ the prostrata. I had a tiny frag fall into a colony of A. Azurea. The Prostrata had its polyps out and was sitting in the coral and had turned it bare white for a few cm all around the frag. I don't see 1 bit of harm to the prostrata. Somebody needs to battle a Valida vs. Prostrata. Who will win?:)

stylo & poscili and birds nest lose almost every war so far. milli's and prostrata's always seem to win too.

I'm curious who wins between loisettae and milli.

My mille and a hyacinth both kick the crap out of capricornis. I'll tell you hydnophora will probably destory every coral out there. At least mine will. I've found my torts are wusses too.

It may mean strong, but that is just one nuance of the word. Another is 'vigorous,' which would be a more appropriate, due to this species' vigorous growth. At any rate, Stylophora sp. tend to be less dominant corals to begin with, somewhat like Montipora sp., so it is safe to assume that most Acropora sp. (not to mention most corals) will win in any 'fight' against Stylophora sp.

who wants a fire coral??

who wants a fire coral??

FIRE CORAL will dominate all!! Long live the domination!! lol

Ha I found my Chips Acropora to be the strongest one so far, everyone else gets freaked out by Xenia, any Xenia either pompom or elongata touch any other corals besides montis they will close instantly, however my Chips Acro stays full PE 247 day or night and is beautiful teal/blue with orange colored polyps.

cheers
David
