AC3 ATO pump recommendation

I've heard that the Aqualifter pumps are bad choices for use with an AC3.... something about being able to turn them on, but not turn them off?

Anyway, for anyone using AC3's... what are you using as your ATO pump? What would you reccomend?

I'm actually considering using 2 pumps... One to pump through my Kalk Reactor, and another that would pump just out of the ATO reservoir if the pH would happen to rise too much for any reason.

Thanks.

I don't have an ac3 but i think the best pump i ever used was just a maxi jet with a piece of rubber line on it and then a piece of ro line stuck in the rubber line.

That's what I was thinking of doing. I have a MJ 404 lying around now that I'm using a manifold to feed everything... and could probably use that.

Thanks.

For top-off I would think you would want to go with a peristaltic pump so there is a steady, slow, adjustable supply. They are more expensive but will not let you down. You could try the Aqua-Medic or something nicer like a LiterMeter if you don't mind the expense.

One of the nice features about a peristaltic pump is that they will not allow a siphon to be started or drain the line back into the reservoir.

That's what I was initially looking at... actually the Bulk Reef Supply... Drew's Dosing pump, but it said that they were not recommended for ATO pumps, because of how slow their flow rate was? So I was assuming it must be even slower than the Aqualifter, but didn't see a rate posted?

I like a slow flow rate, but I didn't want the pump to be constantly on filling the sump. When I used the Aqualifter, it kicked on probably once an hour for about 30 seconds or so. Something similar would be perfect.

I actually really like the LM3, and how the TOTM owner from this month used it to do small daily water changes.... but it's too much money right now.
