What is happening here!!! I just noticed this, took it out and cut away the dead area and dipped it. Wow it smelled bad! My only guess is that it got stung by another close by acan??

It was next to this guy. And also close to a donut coral. Other corals are tons of Zoa/paly, 3 chalice, 2 haddoni carpets but miles away, one more acan, pagoda, devils hand, 2 favia, 1 micromusssia, mushrooms, open brain.

if he was close i bet he pulled out his fillaments last night and had a battle.thayere notorous at this.iv seen them clean evrything of and just leave skelaton in one night he just didnt have time to do the whole job when the lights came on.he was partly digested.echi corals are so brutal.

Umm yes acans CAN sting other acans. You have two different types of acans next to each other they will battle and the enchinata (second pic) will win. You can only put acans of the same family next to eachother..hth

+1 they love to eat any coral.do you no how many kinds of acans there are?we all started and sometime.just do some research and ask questions.the echinata is the definate cuprit here google acan eating another acan and see what comes up pretty cool to watch in fast motion how evil and cruel the whole prosses is it actually uses his filaments and they creap up on the coral and acxtual digests it in the open this mostly happens at night bit i have seen it go all day and night mostly starts then and some times reatreats in the day only to let the rotten flesh cook in the lights and batceria and pods eat it microscopic view is a nightmare.then he come back at night to eat more finishes every bit as far as his filments can reach.happy holloween im going as a POD THIS YEAR!LOL
