You both have a good point. Although I can agree with Tweaked more because nature biologically designed corals to be under specific lighting, and if LPS are harvested within that light spectrum, then it is only natural to grow them under that same spectrum. Also, I do have some SPS that are at the top of my reef and they are looking good also. My lfs even has an SPS tank under actinics. I dont think its a matter of 'needing' certain light spectrums, rather just 'beneficial' to have certain corals under certain spectrums. I changed up my lighting the other day. I switched back to 1-15,000K bulb and 1-20,000K bulb. However, this time I installed actinic LEDs that are going to cover the first few hours of the photoperiod and the last few hours. That way I am covering more than one spectrum. I am going to be running a test with this over the next couple months to see if my acans will stay these new colors or revert back. I am hoping to turn this into a mix tank that allows for peak potential in all of my corals.
