When I first got them I had my lights turned down pretty low. Reefbreeders photon32 about 10" off the water.

About a year later... (got them at reefapalooza ny which is next weekend)

Do they seem like they are getting too much light? They have done very well just lost color. Many of my acro frags are really colored up. The acans are about 2 inches off the sandbed.

Nice looking colony. Acans do have better color in less light. If you find it some shade, it will color up. looks healthy though.

If you want Acans to Keep their Color use Blue Light.

They are Notorious for Losing Color with White Light Especially Rainbow Acans.

Don't even bother buying Rainbow Acans if you do not use Blue Light as you will Waste a Ton of Money.

And If you want them to Grow Feed Them.

I Feed 4 Different Foods to my Acans

1. Reef Roids
2. BRS Reef Chili
3. Seachem AquaVitro Fuel (Vitamin and Ammino Acid Supplement)
4. Larry's Reef Frenzy Frozen Food (LRS)

Here is my Feeding Schedule

Tuesday -

- Reef Roids
- BRS Reef Chili
- Seachem AquaVitro Fuel (Vitamin and Ammino Acid Supplement)

I mix all 3 Together in some Tank Water and Target Feed the Chalices with a Pipette.

Friday -

- Reef Roids
- BRS Reef Chili
- Seachem AquaVitro Fuel (Vitamin and Ammino Acid Supplement)

I mix all 3 Together in some Tank Water and Target Feed the Chalices with a Pipette.

Sunday -

- Larry's Reef Frenzy Frozen Food (LRS)

I Target Feed with a Pipette after Chopping it Up Fine with a Razor Blade.

Less light intensity farther away from the middle, more towards the edges of the tank or under a shaded area. Also feed it some meaty food. I feed mine wild caught salmon every other few days along with a pinch of reef roids that are broadcast feed to the tank every couple days since I have a nano tank.

Low light. The bluer the better. Rainbows turn a dull orange under bright low kelvin light.
Under Radions at the bottom of a 24" tall tank they still lose their nice coloration. Decided to keep all my acans under blue only LED lighting 20" above the water line and place acans 12" bellow the water line. All acans are colored up again.

100 Percent Blue 0 Percent White.

That is the way to go.

I only have blue lights on and my colors are still great after 2 months...I got that info from this forum a while ago and I agree with blues
