I got my new "baby" two days ago, but i can´t identify it (i searched the web for 3 hours now).

It´s size is about 35 cm.

uups - i´ve got it now.

After googling i found some Chalice-corals. It nearly seems to be the same, only the colours are a bit different.

Mycedium is the Latin name.............Chalice is the common name

Hi Forum,

now i´m sure it is Mycedium elephantotus, the colour seems to be rare but the Form is definetly Mycedium e.

ich wollte dir sagen, daß deine Koralle meist wahrscheinlich Pectinia maxima ist. Mycedium hat immer nach aussen gerichtete korallites, nicht flach angelegte, wie bei deiner. Hast du inzwischen neue fotos?

Hi Jamie,

vielen Dank für Deine Nachricht! Ich habe mal nach der Pectinia gesucht und die Ã"žhnlichkeit ist schon mal besser als alles was ich bisher finden konnte. Allerdings weisen alle Beschreibungen auf gelbliche bis braune Färbung hin. Meine Koralle ist aber rot/türkis mit orangen Polypen.

Neue Bilder mach ich die Tage und stell sie ein. Bis auf die mittlerweile zugewachsenen Gewebschäden (vom Vorbesitzer) ist sie aber nicht wirklich gewachsen.
