Acan Shrinking

I just upgraded my lighting from a 105w CF Light to a AI Hydra26. I am running all the Colors as listed below and I'm also running on a 6 week 50% acclimation mode which has cut the lighting way down.

UV=30%
Violet=60%
Deep Blue=80%
Royal Blue=75%
Green=35%
Deep Red=35%
White=35%

My problem is that everything in the tank is doing great except for an Acan that has shrunk down as of yesterday. It was doing fine 5 days ago when I swapped the lighting. Does anyone know what is going on? It has shrunk before but never more than 1/2 a day. Could it just be getting used to the new light spectrum? How long should I leave it before moving it under a ledge to block the light? :headwalls:

Thanks

I've had Acan's that shrink for a week plus and then come back and are 100% fine. Its hard to say what causes it but since your only change was the light, its likely that. If it were me? I'd move it to a lower light area and give it some time.

I don't know that you are going to want to keep green & red at 35%, I've slowly lowered mine to 12% & might work my way down to 10. You're going to get more algae with them that high.

Are they set at 50% acclimation now? I was playing around with my lights & lowered them & the acan was fine but then closed up. I upped the lighting by 1% & it got happy again.

I know you can only change the acclimation settings in 10% increments. If it's been 6 days I would say you should be ok to try 40%. See how things go at 40% & if it's ok then I'd leave it there. If everything else is upset then I'd go back to 50%.

Ya....I thought about that too! Will probably drop the green and red in the future.

I am set to 50% acclimation currently. I did move the acan to the back behind a ledge and it is starting to come back out again so I will give it a few days before starting to pull it out into the light again.

Thanks for your help.
