acan VS. zoas

ive never had them touching long term, but when they have been touching for several hours, i havent noticed any damage either way so far.

I don't know about acans not being aggressive. I had one fall on a favia/favites before, and the favia/favites never recovered. Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

I agree, acans are very aggressive. I had a colonly of zoa's fall on top of an orange crush for about an hour. The acans had their polyps a little shrunk when I detached the two and was fine in 5-10 minutes. It killed a 2" area of zoa's.

well, last time i put the acan lord close to my zoas, i ended up with bunch white bacteria balls.
and my rics are 5" away from my acan echinate, it still eat up 2 polyps of them overnight.
the acan family are aggressive.

Echinata is generally more aggressive than the lordhowensis'...at least in my limited experience and reading.

Not all acans are created equal :)

Yes, Echinatas (like the popular rainbow) are much more aggressive and potent.

They're like favias and would protect its territory by emitting mesentery (?) filaments to sting and kill nearby corals.
