Acanthophyllia Deshayesiana?

I think this was what someone in the New to the Hobby Id'ed it as. Was wondering why one of the edges of the coral is pinched/raised. During lights out this dude after feeding closes completely up and looks like a Clam.

This photo you can see the raised edge on the left. I was wondering if it was normal or something wrong.

This was it open when I first put it in the tank.

Photos were taken with my Galaxy S3 so sorry if bad quality.

Its a very cool coral. I want more of them. The other color my LFS had was $189 compared to this at $59. So I figured I would give it a go and see how it does. If it does well I will dish out the money for the other colors.

i'de say symphyllia wilsoni, Cynarina have a more jagged skeleton structure

Your's looks pretty pail, some food and lower lights should color him up.

I honestly think my lighting makes it look so pale. I don't have a ton of blue lighting. Running 4 T5s Geisemann 2 Lagoon Blue, 1 Actinic + and 1 Aqua Pink. I was thinking of adding another 2 bulb fixture with 2 more Pure Actinic or getting a LED strip done up in blue.

Not a wilsoni. Check the size of the cynarina compared to the wilsoni. Wilsoni will grow in a folded pattern from that one polyp. Cynarina will be a large single polyp.

No where for cynarina skeleton in the second picture, you would be able to see some signs of the skeleton against the flesh.

Any ideas why that one side it pinched like that? Its doing it on its own nothing is there to make it do that.

they require spot feedings to do well. I feed mine rod's food, finely chopped shrimp, mysis, etc a few times a week.
