Ok, so on some websites Acanthurus pyroferus mimics the lemonpeel angel and is yellow with blue edges with a rounded caudal fin.

On others, it is completely yellow with no blue edges and a straight edge caudal fin.

Are these different fish? are the adult versions the same? (I'm wanting the one that turns into a chocolate mimic tang like the ADULT in the following link... I'm just not sure the juv. picture is right)

Example of both side by side:

Thanks!

from what i was told they are the same fish it just depends on where they are collected from. however do not quote me on it. It's heresay

True... but I really prefer juv... higher survival rate and keeps reproducing adults in the ocean =)

Anyone have either and had them "grow up" so I can be sure?

Thanks!

The juveniles are yellow with the blue highlights... the blue highlights disappear and the fish darkens with age. The Live Aquaria picture you posted above displays this.

Or rather some of 'The juveniles are yellow with the blue highlights' and some others are differently coloured depending on locaiton and what they're mimicing.

On the other hand my 'juveniles are yellow with the blue highlights' turned into a kole tang.
