Hey everyone the title says it all. I just started acclimating a new haddoni carpet anemone and i am drip acclimating him in a 5 gallon bucket right now. Is it ok the that he is sticking his base to the bottom of the bucket? Or should i move him around to make him not stick?

Also if he does stick to the bottom of the bucket how should i get him to unstick when i put him in the tank???

Its a good sign that he is attatching when you get him out just massage the base of his foot until he lets go

Be gentle when you massage the foot. Once it starts to lift, just slide your fingers under the edge and encourage it to let go.

Ok now he seems very angry. He was really difficult to get out of the bucket. It took me about 5 min even to get him loose. Plus hes really sticky.

Now he seems to be spitting out himself. Is there anything i can do?

That isn't too bad. It doesn't always happen, but not all that uncommon either. My most recent Haddoni did the same thing.

Just make sure that you acclimate it to your lights. And I would suggest that tomorrow evening that you change out your carbon for fresh and do a water change.

How long did it take for yours do go back in and go back to normal?

the white insides are still present and have not receded.

Now he has a guest staying with him...

Im hoping that this wont anger the anemone. Ive heard it both ways, they can either help with the acclimation process or make it worse. The guy in there right now is being a little bit aggressive but he isnt biting it or thrashing too hard. Dont get me wrong he is thrashing around in it...

Is this ok? lol

Im hoping right now the big female doesnt come in and join the little guy right now... and now that i am literally writing this she is starting to rub against the anemone. ugh lol

One other thing. I got this on a wysiwyg at liveaquaria. They kept it at about the same depth with the same wattage MH, but they had a 10k bulb and i have a 20k. Do i still need to light acclimate the anemone even tho it was under the same light intensities?

here is a pic of both of them

Mine took about 48 hours to get back to normal -- its mouth was closed in the bucket, but opened up when place in the tank.

I would watch both of those clowns -- they could stress it. Might have to build an egg crate box, or something, to keep them out.

I have gotten a couple from the Diver's Den section, and still light acclimated them with window screening. I still used 3 layers, but removed each layer every 5 days. Some may feel it not necessary, but I like to err on the side of caution.

Yeah i think it would be a good idea to still acclimate it to the lighting. It was in a dark box for a while and its always best to be on the safe side.

Todd what should I be looking for as far as the clowns stressing it out? If it doesn't open or if the guts keep coming out?

The mouth not closing and/or becoming more open. The anemone staying closed up, or not opening fully, and lastly the anemone moving/not staying attached.

So the carpet still has it's color and it's foot is still attatched. The clowns are still all over the carpet. I noticed that the mouth is still white but it is not bulging out it is just open. Not sure if it's a sign of it getting better or worse.

When the light was on today he went from 7 inches to 8.5 inches but still remained somewhat closed up. I am wondering when I can feed him and if it will help with the carpet settling in?
