Acclimating Divers Den fish?

For those of us that are new and don't.... Can you elaborate?

Sorry. Fish that come from a system which runs a low level of copper will mask various parasites: cryptocaryon irritans (ich), velvet, brook, uronema. When moved to "clean" water without copper, those parasites will reassert themselves. That is why, it is essential to quarantine any fish coming from this type of situation for a minimum of four weeks.

Ah, wow ok good to know thanks!

Thanks for the information everyone

I went out and bought a 29 gallon tank for the qt. I have a sunsun 302 canister and an inline heater for heat and circulation.

I set my salinity to 1.025 so tomorrow when I get my shipment in I'm just going to be temp matching and dropping them in the tank. From there on I'll probably do a 10 percent water change every other day.

What fish did you buy from DD? And well done on the QT. DD give fish the best possible chance of survival because they are pretty much guaranteed to be healthy and eating and because of this it's temping to not QT. but you made the right decision for sure. I run a permanent QT and it works brilliantly for me. I prefer to be proactive and treat all new fish with paraguard, prazipro and cupramine as standard over the course of 5 weeks. I will of course vary this routine if a fish shows signs of other ailments or is sensitive to certain meds like copper but it has worked very well for me and I highly recommend it. Some people prefer to observe and wait for something to surface but by that time it maybe too late or the fish could still be hosting something when it goes into the DT. I recommend doing some research on The QT process if this is your first time setting up a QT. It will make for a more enjoyable experience for you and less stressful experience for your new arrivals. Good luck!
