If you're moving an anemone from a quality T5 set up, to a quality 150MH set up, you won't need to acclimate at all. The quality T5 set up is producing much more PAR and available light, than any 150MH.
you could start out with a few hours of lighting in a week and then increase the photo period the next and next until youre at your original photo period if you want
you could try something like:
4 hrs one week
5 hrs next week
then 6
then 7
until you meet your original photo period. not sure how long you have your lights on for, i have mine on for about 9 hrs
I received a carpet recently from live aquaria and didnt acclimate it to my lighting since it came from holding tanks with 400w lights. My SPS i acclimate by putting them on the sand bed and moving them up slowly in the tank
When I get my 250s on my 75g, ill be acclimating my whole tank and starting out with 4 hrs a day for a week and then 5 hrs a day the next week, otherwise I'm sure I'll burn some SPS that are on the top
It's a purple macrodactyla doreensis. It attached to the bottom of the tank through my sand within 5min in the tank.
Just turned the lights on now, it retracted a little in a jerky motion then opened again then jerked a little as lights got to full power then opened again.
It's only half the size right now than it was from pics the seller sent me though.
Still not sure the best way to acclimitise it to my lights though. Anyone else have similar experience from T5 to 150w MH with a sand dwelling anemone?
I used to have one of the purple LTAs under a 250w metal halide on a 28g, did good but I also acclimated the way I mentioned
Since back then I had SPS, the tunze powerheads I had in there were pushing 1,000 gph each, and I had two a long with my return flow, so the only area that didn't have much flow was the back
Unfortunately, when I upgraded I gave the anemone to a local reefer who had tanks for a long time, and just neglected the anemone and killed it over time
The anemone came from my LFS, but they didn't have metal halides back then. My tank has 1 250w 14k Phoenix with 2 power compacts, i forget the wattage of those. I think i actually started with 5 hrs. It would always fully expand soaking in the metal halide
