Achilles Tang, when are they "in season" for small juveniles?

looking to get one, but it seems they are all med juveniles at a higher price thatn I want to spend.

There mortality rate is very high as adults. Since Hawaii is starting to put limits on what can be caught they will only become more expensive. I do not know you but there has been 2 local reefers here who have tried several times to get and keep one alive who have failed. I would consider both at advanced or expert level. Both lost them before entering the main tanks. Each had over 100 gallon QT tanks for them with lots of live rock. I have mo idea why they could not keep them they were eating and doing fine then over a couple days just died. Very sad such a beautiful fish.

yeah, the transport very poorly, the good thing is the one LFS I work with gets their fish from a quality wholesaler and will keep the fish for a month before I get it, so if I spend the extra $$ for it, it's worth it.

If they can get a juvenile achilles tang to eat, stay ich free, and alive for one month, that is a valuable AT to have. I would spend the money for that rather then take a risk with a specimen that you don't know will make it or not.
