Achilles Tang,

I have a friend of a friend of mine who has a 5 inches Achilles Tang for about 50 bucks.I read that they are very ich prone.I have some issues going on with my DT now and he said he would keep the tang intill I fix my problem.I called my lfs and they told me that I can treat my tank with cooper and then some other stuff after that which would adnd bacteria back to my tank for my LR,I cant spell the name of it but its going to cost about an $100 to treat my tank with the bacteria stuff since my tank is so big.Is the Achilles Tang that prone to ich?

I'm not sure I am reading your question properly, but you can't treat a tank with copper while you have live rock in there.

you will ruin rock over 1 fish in your main tank. If you have a qt set up why do you have rock in there?

I have LR in my DT not my QT.But if I treat in my QT and move him to my DT and ich comes back then what.My fish are to big to put all of them in a 72 gallon so I would have to just treat the DT.So what would I do if that happens?

I'm not sure what answer you are looking for. You can't treat the display tank with copper unless you remove all live rock/sand. If the inability to treat your display tank is a deal-breaker, I wouldn't add the Achilles. What other fish are in the display tank, and what size is the display tank?

I'm asking what to do if I get an ich outbreak in my DT and my 72 gallon QT wont fit all of my fish?I cant take all my fish and put them in my 72gallonbecause ther is not enough room.Taking all my LR out which is about 300 pd and 400 pd of sand is not an option.So am I just out of luck?

Provided you have properly quarantined all of the fish you currently have, and do the same with the achilles you won't have a problem with ich in your DT. If you don't feel confident that your current fish are disease free and your quarantine protocol is up to snuff, then the achilles is not the fish for you.

You cannot treat ich in your DT safely and effectively if you have invertebrates.

Since you say above you are currently having 'issues' with your DT, now is probably not the time to get a delicate fish.

Whether a fish is particualrily prone to ich is not important to me since I eradicate ich in my tank. A fish cannot be prone to anything that does not exist. Minor difference in degree of suscetability makes no difference.

Tolerance of ammonia etc is also not important because there will be no ammonia even in a begineer's tank. Even a beginner should make sure that there is always no ammonia in his tank water. Easy

The greatest factor that makes a fish suitable or not to the beginner is readiness to eat well and soon. Another important factor is behavior.

Thanks I treat my QT with copper and prazipro.I also do a 10 minute fresh water dip.The guy said he would hold the fish intill my tank is ready

If it is a fish only tank you can treat the DT with copper.

Even a begineer should never lose a fish to ich if it is a fish only tank.

ick is always going to be in your system, Its like the common cold with people. Your best bet is to buy healthy fish first off, second off buy a bunch of different reef doctors, AKA different types of cleaner shrimp, cleaner Gobies or if your really desparate and don't mind having it eventualy die, a cleaner wrass would take care of the ick. These are the only true safe remedies for fish with ick. The best way to keep ick from even flaring up is to reduce as much stress to your fish as posible. Keep good water quality, keep well fed and very important, have a strong skimmer to remove waste from your water. Also keep in mind the other fish in your tank may fight with the new fish over teritory eventualy causing even more uneeded stress which opens the door wide to ick. My best advice to you is not to take the easy route with adding chemicals to your tank and risking everything.
