Dunno, it was just a guess. Its alot more pronouced on the achilles tang aswell and maybe its also to do with the spot. When i first saw a link for an achilles tang and saw it i thought it was pretty apropriate.
When Achilles mother dipped him into the River Styx to make him invulnerable, she held him by the heel (Achilles heel) leaving this one place his weak spot. The orange marking on the Achilles tang is supposed to represent this. (even though the defenses are located here)
