Achilles Tang

Flow isn't the only requirement, just typically an important one. Lots of rock and swimming space is very important. Essentially a healthy well established SPS tank will typically sustain an Achilles quite well long term.

Do people have luck with less than stellar conditions? Yes. Is that the norm, definitely not. There is a reason why it is classified as difficult and why it has an abysmal survival rate.

I thought that 7 years is a good lifespan for a marine fish no?

I have a pair of vortechs running full reefcrest random mode, and a dart plumbed into a pair of eductor returns for flow on a six-foot 180 gallon.

I've been considering an achilles as my "one and only" centerpiece tang. Would he have enough flow to be somewhat satisfied?

I am in the middle of the restocking process and I have the same sentiment regarding the Achille's as my only tang. I have had one in a 40 Gallon QT with alot of flow for 3 months and he is doing really well. I am buying fish taht will go into the tank first and will compliment it in regards to temperment.

In regards to your flow, depending on how open you have the dart running, you still may want to add one more power head (ie. Tunze 6080 or a 6000). But I think the flow is pretty good right now.
