so guts i acid and bleached washed the dead rock that was full of nitrates and phopates and have just safty tied them together and was wondering cause someone told me to watch adding them to the established tank that i have cause it could make a mini cycle happen......again it was laying out for a long time at a fellow reefers driveway for months and i got it....acid washed it then bleached it....rinsed it good and has been sitting out....any thoughts guys? thanks

I'd toss it into a tub/bucket of tank water with a powerhead for a few months. Do water changes and monitor the water parameters.

It would depend on the amount you added to your tank at a time. 1-2 pieces at a time to an established tank shouldn't be a problem. I acid washed all of my rock and replaced it the same weekend and did get a small cycle. Make sure you rinse and rinse, I tested the PH to make sure all traces of acid were gone and let soak in ro water overnight before returning to the tank.

i added about 50 lbs of dry, bleached rock to my dt after about a week of drying and had no cycle at all. I do have a 300 gallon tank though. You took it a step further and acid washed so you should be even cleaner

pain is i just tied the rocks together and like the way it looks....though i'd hate to toss it in and have a cycle happen....btw im not replacing all my rock....just adding that to my already 60ish lbs of rock

if i added it to the tank which is a 55 with bout 60lbs of LR and 70ish lbs of live sand and 4 fish.......how much water should i be changing and hoow many times a week more or less ya guys think?

I did this to my rock over the course of a weekend and had the tank set back up by Sunday night. I had lost a battle with bryopsis and wanted to move the tank. I first bleached the rock overnight on Friday, then pressure washed it Saturday morning. I let it sit in the sun for about 4 hours and then dipped it in acid. I then soaked it in ro water with a full bottle of Prime Saturday night. Sunday morning I put it back out in the sun for most of the day. The only loses I had was one shrimp that I crushed back accident and the bryopsis. I had about 60lbs of rock in my 70G and since the rock was completely dead it did not cycle. I reused most of my water so that played a large part of it.
