Acro Bleaching

So I noticed one of my acros had no PE at all yesterday right as I was getting ready to do a water change, tested params to see everything and DkH was at 4, only thing that was low, did an extra gallon to compensate. Today the same thing, but I noticed the vermitd snail that I had superglued it's hole shut had its web out....did the same again. However I also noticed the backside of the colony is completely bleached, I never noticed it going on before because I had amazing PE, and because I could not see it.

What can I do to try and save this peice? It has nearly doubled in size in the last three months and I would absolutley hate to lose it.

Are you dosing alk at all what you temp at . You can frag the good pieces and keep them in a low flow area for a few days

Ya definitely frag if its going to RTN or its gone for sure. Also be careful because you brought the Alk up pretty fast in just one day.

Not dosing alk, was doing bi weekly water changes, testing every week, last week the DkH was at 8. I think it may have been a Mg issue, I normally do a 2.5 gallon change did 3.5g this week(it is a 28g nano cube)

Alk was way to low. You need to start dosing. It will take awhile for the corals to come back if they survive.

Yeah I know it was really low, i dont know why it dropped so fast however, I had not put any new corals in until the day of the water change. I am thinking it may have been a Mg issue, I will have to pick up a test kit for it.

Not sure what my mag is at, currently do not have a test kit for it, going to try and pick one up after work today. My Ca will always be high, even using RO/DI water it does come from tap at a point and chicago has extrememly high Ca in the water.

You need to dose its a must with sps as thay grow thay consume alk alot .

I know it is a must, I had a SPS dominated 125 gal for 6 years, however I have two small SPS colonies and two frags, until this past week DkH was always 7 or 8 when I tested just prior to water changes, I have had the supplement just never needed it prior

Other than just wait and hope and continue to inspect to ensure its just bleached, anything to help it out? Higher flow? Lower flow? More lighting? Less lighting?

The flow in the tank hasn't changed in three months nor has this Acro's location, I can however turn the wavemaker off and get an additional 10x turnover.

Any suggestions? This is the first bleaching sps I have had in my 7 years keeping them, I have had rtn before, but don't know what I should do here.....any help?
