Acro Crabs?

Hairy is bad, look for the black stripe across it's eyes (like a mask, sometimes called bandit crabs I believe) these are the good ones.

Are you saying the black stiped are good or the hairy ones?

Is the one in the photo a good one? What do they eat and how big do they get?

Is this crab OK?

I am considering an Acro at the LFS and it has 1 or 2 of these crabs in it. Is it OK? If so, what do they eat?

Other corals have hairy legged crabs, I believe they're bad. Is that correct?

Yes it is okay. You won't need to feed it. Though, I have seen mine wave there claws for food from inside the stony...or get close to the edge and try to reach out and grab something. I have that variety in the pic and the other more frequently known black banded. Yes, the hairy crabs in acros are bad 100% of the time. If you have one or buy one with it just coax and flick it out with a toothpick. Don't let it stay too long otherwise it will kill off patches and/or polyps of the stony. HTH.

i have one that i feed all the time from a turkey baster. i lost all my acros to flatworms, so its been cool to keep him alive.
