Acro PE help

Yea I did a heavy feeding last night for the new goni and because my acan, brain and torch all had their sweepers out. Sps did nothing =)

I was watching the goby more carefully and it looked like it might have been nipping the milipora skeleton.

Funny that it goes after milis and acros but not birdsnest, montis or stylos.

Yes, I have a neon green birdsnest that grows like a weed but the YCG never touches it. I spoke too soon before because now the YCG is in my efflorence and immediately all polyps retracted......maybe this will give my milli a break.....
I keep 2 clowns, 3 blue green chromis, 2 blue cardinals, YCG, and CBB.

Are you sure you dont have AEFW? they can be very hard to spot.

Have you dipped any of your acros?

Yea I dip everything, I can pull it out and dip it again but at this point it is basically a goner. It was the first acro I bought and honestly I only bought it because it was the largest $10 frag they had. Now that I have a MUCH better grasp on the different types of SPS I can make better decisions.

If it survives then great, but it has a lot of missing tissue and I think my spongodes would look better where it is anyways.

I'll go ahead and be the one to agree, it's probably the yellow clown goby. One look at the original post and that was screaming at me. Sure, it could be one of a thousand other things, but thats where I would start.

Yea now I am debating removing it. It would be a no brainer but just mentioning removing it made my fiance say, " NOoooo that is the only fish I like in your stupid tank."

Why do they have to be so cute and so f'ing destructive, i heard they could nip at polyps but I didnt think that meant that if you add sps they will convert their entire diet to be polyps.

I had a clown goby that destroyed a few nice colonies before i could catch him. I'd take him out if i were you.

Reef fish are annoying, all the cool ones are a-holes.

I really want to get a damsel but that will probably start WWIII

I'll have to take it out next weekend when I have time to go to lfs, I read you can suck them out with a hose fairly easily since they are small ;)

I removed my YCG on Monday and have never seen better looking sps in my tank!! If you have good water params but still poor sps pe and growth (even death of frags in most cases) and keep a clown goby in you tank then I would watch him close. If it is constantly hanging out in your sps then it is there for a reason and it is nipping at the polyps. I can kind of understand how this fish can be classified as reef safe because it only likes to nibble of certain acros and milli IME. I also tried to originally house two of them but the one chased the other into the sump numerous times where it later died or is MIA at least. Would be interested to hear of people keeping YCG and SPS tanks......I have always just done sps as frags and it was no problem for the YCG to tear apart those little guys. Nice fish but my goal is sps!
