Acropora spawned last night

Last night I was doing my nightly check for pests such as AEFW and noticed one of my acropora spawning, this is the first time I have seen this happen in my tank. I just received this particular acropora a little over a month ago and when I first received it, it was pretty bleached from shipping stress. It has now gained most of it's zooxanthellae back and now I am waiting for it to gain color from it being brown and green :).

Here is when I first put it in my tank,

Now that's awesome! Maybe some day all our stock will be captive bred. Did it pollute the tank or just get consumed and skimmed out?

It was mostly skimmed out, being only one coral that spawned it wasn't too bad. In the morning I didn't notice anything out of the normal once the lights came on.

Kinda cool and rare to see one come in wild that was already ready to spawn. At least I haven't seen one do that, I guess that doesn't mean its rare, but still really cool. Thanks for sharing.

You know what's crazy I noticed the same thing on one of my corals that's wild I've had it for about six months I first thought it was little snails all over my coral but looked same as yours I didn't stick around to see what happened

That's awesome mate :) - check your overflow isn't covered in eggs as they float and won't be removed by your skimmer so they have to be somewhere. The fish don't eat them either.

I think I found them, do they turn white and really small after released?

I watched mine being released and then they all went over the overflow and down into the sump since the drain pipe was close to the water surface. There were about 300 1mm salmon pink balls floating around my skimmer so i netted then all out before they rotted and gave me nutrient issues.
I'd remove anything like you described before it rots away into the water.

I had the same thing happen a year or two ago with a wild collected Australian piece. Just because it's small doesn't mean it didn't go through puberty on the reef!

Done, thanks!

Yeah this is an Aussie piece as well.
