Acropora tenuis

Reefing since '93
I never kept any tenuis in past SPS tanks, but I have a fair obsession with them right now. :o

I'm just wondering what PAR you guys are keeping them under? Are you finding some colors prefer more or less PAR to get the best results?

Mindy, A. tenius can be typically kept anything from 250-400 PAR. With vermiculata, I find the corallites are far more pronounced.

The usual blue tip with green base tenuis show good colours in as little as 200 PAR; I have a frag of a solid blue one and it needs a bit more light to retain colours.

Ok thanks Sahin. Mine seem to be happy, but they are pale. Not sure if it's too much light or not enough nutrients.

If a good number of your corals are pale, then it could indicate two things:

1. Pale on upper surfaces of the acros means too much light;
2. Pale all over (upper/sides/underneath etc) means a lack of nutrients.

Remember I'm recovering from a mini-crash. Some corals are pale, some are rich. It's not that simple right now. :)
