Acros growing out of the water?

Has anyone purposely let their acro's or stags grow out of the water? I've seen pics where they will touch the waterline, but didn't know if they would continue to grow up. I know they would die but didn't know if the tissue and skeleton below the surface would still push the skeleton out of the water...

Just curious. If anyone has any pics of this type of situation - doesn't need to be acro's, can be monti's or any other type of SPS.

Thanks.

They won't grow out of the water from what I've seen.. The tip seem to just flat out at the surface. I'm not sure how to explain it, but will try to find a picture for you.

Good shots! Thanks for that link, I appreciate it. It almost looks as if it would continue to sort of force it's way out by the way it's bulging at the waterline. Very cool.

I have a coral that has breached the surface. I think that it helps it is in a area were a vortec causes wave like action. I am waiting to see what happens as it just happened.

Not the best shot, but the back branch tip is above the surface.
