Acros

green coralline? Also if the rock was established and you had a decent amount of it, its actually pretty feasible not to see an ammonia spike upon adding fish/ghost feeding.

I think everyone here is overcomplicating things. Your current Montis and sps are doing fine, you have fish in there that are doing fine. Whats the hold up? You have the right amount and the right type of flow for acros. Throw a few sticks in there and get it cooking.

I added acro frags to my tank on day 4 of it being wet. Granted all the rock was from an established reef.
still, I think people are making a bigger deal out of this than it should be.

Yeah I kinda figured, and yeah the rock sat for a while in a stock pond but it is from an established tank.

And yeah I have green coraline....aperntly....I was told it was a type of coraline....not the typical purple.

Hey I don't claim to know half as much as the vet reefers. All I know is what I got going on.

Maybe I will try a few frags I mean at 45 a frag it's not like I'm loosing to much....most I've spent on a coral is 120 rest where frags so no real damage to the wallet

Thanks acro head from your positive and non degrading responses

The help is appreciated as I'm very green to reef keeping.

There's my green....it's much brighter then turf or film or hair it's almost neon under light....oh and I've started to notice specs of purple coraline email poping up to.

But this green my snails wont clean...they get the other stuff but leave this

ShesEasy, it is my intent to assist and to educate. If I came across as degrading, I apologize.

It is possible that your "excessive addition" of microbacter eased your cycle along.

My comment about low coralline growth being a concern was based on your initial statement about only having "a tiny bit of hair and diatomes and coraline". If you actually have lots of coralline, great!

As for the toxicity of ammonia to coral, and whether corals should be added before or after cycling, please search or google and form your own conclusions. You may find your veteran reefer friend in the minority opinion there.

I wish you only the best of luck with your tank. Please keep us updated. Pictures are always welcome.

Definatly no hard feelings as I ment that in a non direct way. I find people on the Internet can be quite rude that's all I meant by comment

Alllllll is good

And the input is greatly appreciated

Definatly going to keep everyone updated :)

I'd keep things simple as possible or you'll get burnt out quickly. I would not be to worried about chasing numbers too much (parameters) but keep things as stable as you can. Don't forget strong lighting, and flow mentioned previously by others. I personally feed my fish heavy, skim heavy and keep up with monthly routines in ex. water changes, filling up my 2 part solution containers.
