How easily do they scratch? Can you use mag-floats on them? Will LR or sand scratch them? Can ALL the scratches be buffed out? I am thinking about getting one but my biggest concern is it getting scratched and ruined.
I just tore down my 46gal acrylic bowfront of two years. Beautiful tank to begin with, but scratch soooo easily. Broke my heart, I would not do acrylic again, especially in a nano. I just set up a 12G aquapod and love it.
With an acrylic tank, much more care must be taken when you work on the tank. All it takes is a rock landslide or a grain of sand stuck between your magnet cleaner to put a scratch into an acrylic tank. For some reefers, the extra worry just isn't worth it.
Scratches CAN be buffed out, but I think the best buffing is done with a polishing compound, which would involve emptying the tank, etc.
