anybody know where I can get some acrylic rods locally.. I am thinking about re- aquascaping and drilling everything this time

How tall are going to make the rock structures. ? I would recommend 1/2" if you are going to use long rods and skewer all the rock to one single rod.

That's exactly how I did mine and it worked great. Cheap too......

I have a standard 75 gallon so they dont have to be too high ..less than 20 inches.
Two more questions.
Do you epoxy the rock together as well or just work them around until they are stable?
Do I need to make any kind of base for the rod. Right now I am just thinking if I dont drill all the way through the base rock in each pillar I should be ok?

It all comes down to how stable do you want things to be. I do not epoxy the rocks, but I do have to epoxy the rod to the base rock. If you are trying to make overhangs and ledges then you have to come further out with the rock, and that means you need a base that will be stable and not topple over when the center of gravity starts to fall outside the base.

Ok I bought the masonry bit today. Looks like I am doing this next weekend or the following at the latest. Sanjay did the driveway markers you use have any color to them?? T
he only ones I can find are bright red or yellow with reflective strips. I know I could peel off the strips but didnt know if the colorant in them was safe.
