I am ordering some 1/4" x 6' acrylic rods cut to 3' lengths if anyone is interested. I plan to use these to aquascape my rock by drilling. They are $1.50/ 6' rod + shipping. They are made by TAP plastics and are very good quality plastic.

I'll take a couple. I wont need it for a while, but I can store it in my shop. I can give you the money tomorrow.

So that 2 for you Tech? I'm not sure of shipping charges yet. Will look into it tonight. That's why I got em cut n half cuz anything 6'+ is extra shipping.

Ok just got my email quote on shipping. 3x 6' roD's cut to 3' is 10.85 for 5 day shipping. Tech yours would be 1.50 for rod plus 3.60 shipping for a grand total of 5.10. Let's just say 5$. Know of anywhere close that may be cheaper? It's crazy that shipping cost more than the product

Have you checked with Shayne at Discount Hobbies? He may have good access to acrylic rods. I think they would be used in RC vehicles like planes wouldn't they?

I have been in there many times, but I didn't pay enough attention to see if they had those. Let me know if you see some there, Reefaholic.

Really? I asked 3 associates at lowes n checked their and home d website. What's the diameter and approx price. I may go with PVC stand now. Think it may be more stable. I found some old tent poles I had. They r fiberglass. I wonder how they would do as a last resort. You think the binding epoxy would leech toxic chems?

They are 1/4'' diameter,as long as they are not real long they were pretty stable,I think I got 2 per pack for around $3.00.pvc will make a strong platform for rock formations,I don't know about the fiberglass rods,I know when people build plywood tanks they always cover the fiberglass with marine paint.

Too much extra work on FG rods so those are out. Really think PVC skeleton is what Imma do. Since I'm running bare bottom I need all the protection from falling rocks as possible. May use acrylic rods for a lil extra security tho on higher pieces. Thanks SMV!!

I always use plexi glass under my sand to protect it from sharp points on live rock,I don't know how that will look with bare bottom.
