Acrylic Sump Question

I got a sump from someone, and it leaks a little. I sealed it as best I can with weldon 16. The issue im having is it leaks a little where the bulk heads are at. Can I use silicone to seal them?

Also, is there any silicone that will work with acrylic?

drain it so its dry and use a little of the 16 on the acrylic where it is leaking this will build up the acrylic sounds like the hole is too large, or make sure the rubber gasket is on the water side of the bulk head, if and after using the 16 tighten it back down alow 48 for it too dry and it should be ok or at hd there are quite a few glues that are safe to use when dry and use on the outside of the fitting now this is going to ruin the bh but wont matter as its going to be a fixed part as long as its not leaking

I don't follow. Is there an acrylic bond that's leaking (like a corner, the bottom, etc) or the bulkhead?

If it's an acrylic leak, yes you need to fix it with the correct material (16 dries up easy and is harder to patch with, 40 is better but more expensive). If it's the seal on the bulkhead itself, then it's a bad bulkhead/gasket or improperly installed/tightened. If it's a seal on the pipe going into the bulkhead, that's a plumbing issue with improper gluing or needs to be tightened and/or have some tape applied.

Never, never, never use silicone to "seal" a bulkhead. That's a rigged up solution that just masks the problem, and causes more harm than good.

Can you post a picture so we have a more accurate idea of what the issue is?

after reading this post, I think the bulk head is backwards. I will post a pic when I get home.

Is there a weldon 40? is it more like caulk, cause that would help me seal the corners also. I feel like it needs to be sealed again. I find drops hear and there of water from some seams.

This is a sump behind a wall, so I can seal it anyway I need.

While you are at it, replace the bulkheads, have heard of more than one instance of problems with old bulkheads.

weld on 16 is more like calk than weld on 40 you dont want to work with 40 youll make a big mess its great for glueing thick acrylic and you get a absolutely clear joint .

40 is like caulk. 16 goes down like caulk then quickly dries up leaving plenty of gaps and bubbles in my experience.

40 is a 2 part mix that when mixed up is a thick syrup, which can make it hard to work with. But it does a much better job of sealing up leaks than weldon 16.
